“As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.” – John F. Kennedy
Expressing gratitude is one of the most important things we can do to find happiness. It is like telling the world you like and enjoy those things in your life that are going well. The feeling of gratitude is a good and very positive emotion that can support an elicit other positive emotions like happiness and love.
In this quote by John F. Kennedy, he suggests an even higher expression of gratitude. There is nothing wrong with just expressing your gratitude by words. Indeed, it is better than no expression at all. He is essentially urging us to consider a more excellent way to express our gratitude: by our actions.
If you are grateful for someone, you might just tell them so, and that would be a good thing. But you may go further and tell them by your actions you are grateful for them. You might serve them. And ultimately you might honor them by being the best person you can be.
If you receive wisdom, instructions, or information you are grateful for, the best way for you to show your gratitude is not by just saying thank you, but by doing something about it, by living by those words.
Be a person of your words. Have conviction.
