You’ve probably heard the quote,
“It’s not what happens to you, but how you respond that matters” – Epictetus1
And it is how we respond to things that really displays to the world who we have become. Regardless of your life circumstances rich or poor, luck or destitute, what you do with it is really what matters.
“The measure of who we are is what we do with what we have.” -Vince Lombardi
Think about it. There are so many influential people in the world and they come from so many different backgrounds. Some were poor and abused when they were young. Some were not. The point is, what life gave them had no bearing on where the ultimately ended up. That was up to them to take whatever was there and make something of their life and make a difference for others too.
So what does this mean for us?
Your life. Think about it. Are you complaining or blaming your current circumstances on genetics, family financial situation, education, upbringing, connections (or lack thereof)? If you are, you can stop it. Foe every complaint you can think of, there is someone out there who had it worse and is in a better situation that you.
You just need to take responsibility and make something with what life handed you. And the truth is there is NO LIMIT to what you can do. You just need to start …. and then keep at it.
