Stuff happens.
No matter how careful you are in life, sometimes the world throws you a curve ball, and … you just have to deal with it.
When something unplanned, unexpected, and unpleasant happens, you have two choices:
- Wallow in self-pity, or
- Accept it, get over it, and move on.
In actuality, the third choice is probably better: do both. It’s not only okay, but may even be therapeutic to mourn a bit, feel the blow, and then get past it. Sometimes pushing past the hurt without feeling leaves it unaddressed and festering in our mind. Addressing it quickly by accepting it and mourning a bit before moving on can really make moving on powerful.
It’s not really important what happens to you, but rather how you deal with what happens to you. Remember, everyone has set backs. What separates the great from the mediocre is how one deals with it.
“This, too, shall pass!” – anonymous1
It’s as if this saying is saying, “When life gets you down, take some time, feel it, then get on with it – it will be over soon.”
Viewing our current unfortunate predicament as temporary or limited in scope provides not only relief, but a goal in sight – a light at the end of the tunnel. It becomes an energy that drives your forward powered by hope of a brighter future.

- Although it is impossible to trace this saying down to a single individual (and no it does not come from the Bible), it is attributed to a Persian adage https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/This_too_shall_pass
