Are you happy with your life? Do you have any regrets? Do you think you’ll have any regrets at the end of your life?
What a horrible feeling that would be, to get to the end of your life and have that feeling that you wished you had done something different.
Many times, we fear things that will never come true. If it is the feeling of regret you want to avoid, you can take lessons from the dying. People that face their last few days on Earth often can see with greater clarity the impact or importance of their decisions.
What do you think the most common regrets were or what most people feel or felt?
As it turns out, they never regret taking a chance or doing their best. More often than not they regret not taking the chance or not doing basic things like spending time with loved ones or eve simple things like smiling more. In her book, Top Five Regrets of the Dying, Bronnie Ware shares wisdom she learned as she loved and cared for many people who were facing their final years on Earth. She summarized their regrets as follows:
- “I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.”
- “I wish I had not worked so hard.”
- “I wish I had the courage to express my feelings.”
- “I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends.”
- “I wish I had let myself be happier.”
These regrets of the dead should sound loudly in your ears as warning clarion call to seek better for your life.
So, take courage. Stand tall. Take a chance. Use your intelligence. Apply your wisdom. And take control of your life. You don’t know what the future will hold. Sometimes, you just need to pick something and move forward with it. Experiment with it and adjust as you go. Some people are just in the right place at the right time, and some are not. Do your best. Maintain the best attitude, mindset, and do your best to attract and manifest the best outcome you can. I guarantee you will be satisfied with your efforts. There will be ups and downs, but the average of your consistent efforts will always be up – will always be a far greater reward. What you won’t be satisfied with is living a life of fear, sorrow, solitude, and doubt. There is a more excellent way.
