Personal Development is awesome. No doubt.
Most people approach their personal development through reading books, listening to audiobooks, attending events such as webinars, seminars, motivational events, and more.
There are so many Personal Development books out there. You can see my growing list of Personal Development books here: https://benbalden.com/pdw/. It’s my list of personal development works I’m moving through one book at a time. I plan on sharing what book I’m reading as I go (#bookclub).
The thing is… so many of these books overlap. There are so many concepts you hear over and over. When you hear the same principles from a lot of successful people, there’s got to be something to it.
Yet, I believe that there must be a better way to organize all that knowledge.
I’ve done this is SEVEN different areas:
1. AWAKE – taking initiative and responsibility for your life
2. PURPOSE – decide what you want to do in life
3. VISION – decide what your life is going to be like, your dreams
4. PROGRESS – how to get traction in moving toward your dreams
5. MINDSET – aligning your attitude and the way you perceive the world with your dreams
6. SUPPORT – connecting with others to go further and accomplish more together
7. WHOLE – taking care of you, your body, mind, and spirit, so you can get the most out of life
Having said that, I believe the best approach to personal development is to learn and implement these personal development principles one by one. The organization above, helps me to build the teachings of one book on the teachings of another. When I can identify they are talking about the same thing, it strengthens the principle instead of adding more noise and more “things” to think about and do.
Additionally, I use essential oils to help me mentally take the steps and prepare my mind for movement in personal development.
