Want to change your world in an instant?
Problems.
We all have them. Everyone who is anyone has something in their life they would like to be better.
These PROBLEMS may very well exist within us. They may not be a matter of the way the universe exists, but rather with how we are interpreting it.
A fortunate turn of events for one person may be a tragedy for another. And for another, it may be an opportunity.
It’s about attitude. It’s about how you choose to look at it.
Here’s today’s quote:
“Change the way you see the world and change the world you see.” ~ Ben Balden (me – see my collected works here)
If you simply change how you see things, your world may change just as quickly and dramatically. Handicaps become opportunities. Setbacks become challenging and exciting turn of events. Lack of certainty becomes variety and adventure.
Most times, the world itself will still be the same, but you will be just seeing it from a different point of view. At other times, the world itself begins to change as you begin to interact with it from this new angle. Your viewpoint, attitude, and beliefs affect your actions and, in turn, affect the actual world how it is. So literally by simply changing the way you look at the world, you’re changing the world. At first, the change is merely mental, then the change becomes physical.
Let’s put this concept to an example, if we can. Imagine a man who has just joined a new company. As our story begins, he views the world as hostile and adversarial. He sees everyone as out to get him. He is scared and always on edge. You can imagine how that would affect his world, his work, his relationships, and the level of trust he extends to others. Then imagine this guy changes the way he sees the world. Rather than see everyone and everything as out to get him, a hostile universe, he sees a friendly universe. He sees many friends who are there to help him and support him. This difference in attitude, belief, and way of seeing the world changes his life completely. He begins to trust people, he begins to see opportunities where he had only seen roadblocks. And he begins to see friends where he before only saw enemies. As you can imagine, his world expands. When he flipped how he saw the world, the world itself was the same. Only, he saw it from a different angle. But after interacting with the world, making friends, taking advantage of opportunities, and acting on hopes of a better future, the world around him actually did begin to change.
So, I challenge you to look at your problems with a new set of lenses today. Think of what has got you down. Turn it right side up in your mind. What is fortunate about it? What about the situation can you be grateful for?
Seriously do it.
