The biggest opportunity for personal growth with me is to interrupt destructive patterns. Recently, through introspection, I discovered I spend a lot of time in the emotions of sickness, sadness, frustration, worry, and fear.
Â
I had an experience yesterday when, while thinking about finances, I began to go into a very familiar emotional pattern. This occupied my mind for some time making me less productive to my business and customers.
Â
There are some fundamental, subconscious, things involved in our minds that make us either do things or not do them. It boils down to pain and pleasure. In other words, Fears and Needs.
Â
When we keep doing something even when we don’t want to. When we try to stop and can’t, it’s because doing that thing meets a fundamental need or protects us from a fundamental perceived fear.
Â
We will even violate our beliefs and values to meet these needs and avoid these fears.
Â
So, I discovered that I often get depressed as an invitation for others to LOVE me. Identifying that opens the opportunity to fill that need for love in another way, through giving love and service.
Â
And I’ve noticed that I often hold back from achieving something for fear of rejection, which stems from a fear that I’m not enough and that I won’t be loved. But I can face and receive rejection and know that I love myself regardless of what others think and I am enough and worthy.
Â
So, I made this chart from the 6 human needs and different ways you can meet those needs both constructively and destructively.
Feeling stuck? Keep ending up in the same place? Find that you keep returning to a destructive emotional state that stops you from progressing?
It could just be your body’s need of getting the pleasure it needs and avoiding the pain you fear.
Use your intelligence to fill your needs through more supportive ways, and face those fears with truth and courage.
Fix it and forget about yourself. Reach out and serve others. Find someone to TAKE A STAND FOR! Who will you serve?
By operating in our zone of genius and embracing a passion, and taking up a cause or a purpose larger than ourselves, our true light shines and we experience joy.
You’ve all felt it. Joy.
Sharing something wonderful with some amplifies the experience.
