I’ve been wanting to put this video and post together for a while to show others the best of Google Forms, what to use them for, and how to set them up.
Google forms are just a super simple way for you to collect data from people who fill out the forms in a simple and easy way to use it.
Why Use Google Forms?
There are multiple ways you can use Google Forms. Here are just a few I have used. Watch the video for about 8 more additional ideas and screenshots:
- Survey
- Drawing entry
- Quiz
- Collect data
- Applications
- Take orders
- Track spending
- Competitions
- Track progress
- Check-in submissions
- Upload files or images
- Journaling
- Idea collection
Using The Data
Once you have collected (and while you are collecting) the data, you can crunch it live in a Google Sheet. You can easily sift, compare, analyze, and put your data into charts and tracking sheets. While I’m not going to walk you through all the formulas I use in crunching my data (you can use the Google Sheets help just like I do), I will show you what is possible.
These sheets and charts can be published to the web for your people to track live the data as it comes in.
What’s Possible
Here are a few things you might want to adjust in settings and such
- Set your forms to collect emails
- Allow your people to edit after submission
- Let them see the results right in the form
- If you split your form (or quiz) into sections, add a progress bar
- Allow them to submit another response
- Automatically grade quizzes and give points
- Show the correct answer for questions missed
- Change the theme color
- Add a header image (of your own or Google stock)
- Get emailed when someone completes a new form
- Track responses right in the form
- Track responses in a Google Sheet
- Easily publish responses to the web
I hope you enjoyed this walkthrough of Google Forms. Let me know in the comments how you use Google Forms.
