Wondering what to do?
I get it. I’ve been there. I get stuck, too.
I was recently reading (or rather listening to) Essentialism by Greg McKeown. And in that book, he gives some great advice, which he got from somewhere else, too. He uses the acronym, W.I.N., which stands for, “What’s Important Now.”
What’s Important Now?
So, when you are faced with a barrage of ideas and to-do items, just focus on the moment. Clear away the clutter, and pick ONE thing to focus on.
Clear Away The Clutter
Here are some helpful steps that work for me…
- STOP – pause, take a step back from the chaos and breathe or count or something to step out of the mess
- TAKE STOCK – make a list, whether on paper or in electronic form, of everything in your mind
- CHOOSE ONE – select the ONE thing that you will focus on using the question, “What’s Important Now?”
- FOCUS – remove distractions and focus on completing that one thing to the exclusion of all else
