The world needs a lot more tolerance today. We all need to live by the axiom, “live and let live.” We all need to start accepting people for who they are rather than trying to mould people to what we want them to be. We need to be comfortable with people believing things differently than we do. We need more love.
And that leads us to the inspirational quote for today:
Be tolerant with others and strict with yourself.~Marcus Aurelius
The only person we really have control over is ourselves. Seeking to control something you do not have control over can be frustrating, wasteful, and destructive. Just let it go. Let other people lead their own lives. Let them make their own choices and face the consequences. That doesn’t mean that you are not your brother’s keeper. You can still love, be concerned for, and encourage others to live good lives. But relinquish all control over to them. Know when your encouragement ends and their power to choose begins. Respect their power to choose.
And when it comes to control. Although you don’t have control over others, the one person you do have the most control over is yourself. And with yourself, you must be strict, just as Marcus Aurelius suggests. We all must exercise self control, self mastery, self love, and self discipline. We must be our own boss, our own leader, and our own coach pushing ourselves on to victory.
There are some people out there who use all their energy and focus on trying to control others and have no control over themselves. This is backwards and counterproductive. Let go of your need to control others and take the reigns of your own life
