Over the weekend, I heard this quote. It inspired me.
Improving by 1% a day makes you 37 times better in a year
So, I looked it up. Here is what I found (the math) courtesy of ps kullar from medium.com quoting Zappos1:
“If you start out with $100 at the beginning of the year and you were able to increase what you have by 1% every single day, at the end of the year, you would have $3,778.34 = $100 * (1 + 1%) ^ 365. That is 37.78x what you had at the beginning of the year. Get that 1% every single day!” — Zappos
That’s pretty inspiring. Improving 1% each day seems like such a small improvement. It seems doable. I found this graph on nextbigclub.com2.
These concepts remind me of the principles of slight edge in by Jeff Olson’s book, The Slight Edge (9.5/10 ✅REVIEWED HERE). The idea is that you benefit from minor improvements over time to reach massive potential. This, to me, is inspiring.
