Does success have to be hard, and do you have to fight for it? Some people think that they need to fight tooth and nail to be successful or that they need to push their way through the jungle and carve out a new path. That’s creating more work than necessary, and in some cases, throwing additional obstacles in the path. This quote from Jim Rohn is instructive.
Don’t try to beat the system. Find out how it works and work it.~Jim Rohn
There are many things in life that work right for a reason. For the large majority of the time, you just need to follow in the footsteps of success. Look at what successful people in your field are doing and do those things.
You first need a goal. What is it that you want to accomplish. Then you can work out the most strategic path of least resistance to get to that goal. You figure out what needs to be done and then you do it. Straight to the target. Don’t kick against the pricks.
Of course, alternatively, there are instances where you need to think outside the box. You might need to think differently to take advantage of blue ocean opportunities of the type discussed in the book, Blue Ocean Strategy, by W. Chan Kim and Renée Mauborgne.
So, how do you know the difference? You need to balance these two modes of thinking. To do this, you just need to engage your intelligence and use your brain to figure out what is the right course of action for you.
